Vixen invites owners of Vixen products to enter contests of photos taken with the use of Vixen products.

Photos are collected at all seasons and judged quarterly in spring, summer, autumn and winter to commend for the most excellent piece of work. Besides, Vixen presents merchandise vouchers to winners who win the first, second and third prizes respectively.

The Vixen Gallery shows their prize-winning works from the year 2007 till now. For your better photography, please check what Vixen equipment is used and how the photos were taken.

Awards and Prizes

Gold Prize

One person
Prize : Merchant voucher of JPY5,000, which is usable at department stores and mass merchandisers in Japan.

Silver Prize

One person
Prize : Merchant voucher of JPY3,000, which is usable at department stores and mass merchandisers in Japan.

Bronze Prize

Two persons
Prize : Merchant voucher of JPY1,000, which is usable at department stores and mass merchandisers in Japan.

  • * The prize-winning works may be published in the Vixen's "So-Ten-Ken" bulletin in addition to appear in this gallery. Those may be used for advertisement of Vixen product and may be displayed in shop front also. Thank you for your understanding.
  • * We will let you know if your prize-winning work is used for our advertisement and P.O.P display.

Entry Closing Time

The collected photos are judged quarterly in accordance with the following closing times.

  • Spring : Photos arrived at Vixen by end January
  • Summer : Photos arrived at Vixen by end April
  • Autumn : Photos arrived at Vixen by end July
  • Winter : Photos arrived at Vixen by end October

Method of Application

We receive the images by post and by email, either one is gladly acceptable.
We look forward to receiving your work for the contest.


Entry Rules

  • Send photos or sketches of celestial objects, wild bird, nature landscape or micro world by a microscope.
  • Fill in the application form below and surely attach it to a piece of work.
  • It is essential that the photos or sketches are taken with the use of a Vixen product. (It is not necessary that all the equipment you use is made by Vixen. It will be OK if a Vixen article is only a part of your photographic equipment such as Vixen optical tube, Vixen equatorial mount, or Vixen eyepiece.)
  • If photos are your work
    The size of printed photos should be larger than the cabinet size.
    Electronic images in jpeg or tif format, and up to 5MB size.
  • If sketches are your work
    The size of sketches should be from the size of a postcard to A4 size.
    Electronic images in jpeg or tif format, and up to 5MB size.

  8. Focal length, open aperture of the camera lens and F stop ratio used
  9. Name and manufacturer of the optical instrument used
  10. Name and manufacturer of the eyepiece used
  11. Name and manufacturer of the imaging camera used
  12. Name and manufacturer of the mount (equatorial or altazimuth) used
  13. Method of tracking object
  14. Name and manufacturer of the film used
